The Problem(s)
Look, I don’t enjoy where I am right now and if you saw me like this I am sure we would both be sad together.
I am currently writing this as I (A.) have one thing that was due last week and one thing that was due today that I basically just did not do and (B.) have 2 tests tomorrow. (Science and Literature)
My problems look basically like this.
I procrastinate - addicted to infotainment- typical of any high-schooler
I am not confident (i.e public speaking, physical(my own body))
My grades are not that high
Nothing differentiates me in the eyes of colleges
Not that organized
(This goes with point 4) - I have not created or done anything big - not because I have to because I want to.
Tomorrow, I am probably going to simplify this list into more manageable chunks and “themes”. I realize that you cannot solve problems all at once and I think I am going to try a more “atomic” approach.
A Quick Bio
I am a sophomore in high school.
I am a INTP. (That was spot on)
I enjoy reading books. (Non-Fiction)
I love anything that has to do with compound interest, whether it is index funds or interest on savings accounts.
Self-Help Books
This is kind of where “Self-Help Hell” comes into play.
In order to change the way I behave and do things I read some “guiding material” to help me. I was stuck in this Self-Help Hell because I only liked the idea of changing so I would be in this loop of reading a self-help book, trying it our for like a day (or not), failing, crying inside, and starting all over again with another book (This plays into my personality type - which does not mean I should take comfort in it and not do anything about it).
What Books?
Deep Work - Cal Newport
How to be a High School Superstar - Cal Newport (eye-opening)
Atomic Habits - James Clear
How to Win Friends and Influence People - Dale Carnegie (scary good)
Where do I go from here
I want to use my knowledge from these books to break free from that Self-Help Hell, my own personality, and my problems.
I first, however, want to define a schedule for tomorrow that is not to difficult to follow and pretty basic. (Start small)
5:50 AM - Wakeup
5:55 AM - Shower
6:05 AM - Brush Teeth and Hair
6:10 AM - 6:25 AM - Get Dressed and Bus
School 8AM-3PM
After School 3PM-5:30PM (Can be used for Homework - probably will) (30 minute drive home after 5)
9PM - 10PM -Elysium Writing
As you can see there is a lot of time for fair game so it obviously needs to be more fleshed out. I am also using a Google Home device for my alarm.
